Healing yourself is a deeply personal and ongoing journey as well.

  • Sleep Hygiene teaches us to get off technology an hour before bed, keeping a consistent bed time and having a routine that settles your body and mind. A bath or reading are some great places to start.

  • Grounding exercises help to bring us back in to the present moment. One activity to do is practice mindfulness, where you are present and focus on one thing you can see, one thing you can hear, one thing you can feel and one thing you smell.

  • Journaling is an excellent way to release stress and clear our mind. Just write about whatever comes to mind, don’t force it or judge it. Just write.

  • Eating a balanced diet

  • Hydration

  • Connecting with others can really help ground us and bring us back in to our bodies. Trauma tends to make us. want to isolate or avoid busy places, but connecting with others is an important part of self care.
